Artist Found

Wed Feb 4, 2009, 6:11 PM
Thanks to everyone who applied for the comic artist position. An artist has been found for the job, and I'm very excited about it! I apologize if I didn't get in touch with everyone that applied, I tried. Its just that this past weekend and the beginning of this week have been terribly hectic for me. I've been sick and totally swamped with work. Not a great combination, but work is always good I suppose. So I'm beginning to feel better, but no sign of a slow down with work yet. I'll try to update here in a couple weeks when I have more info on the new comic available. Thanks for looking!

Looking for Web Comic Artist

Thu Jan 29, 2009, 10:42 PM
Well, I posted this in the Forum but figured I'd go ahead and post it here as well. I'm having a blast writing the script for the new Fairy story and have decided to just dive in and go for it. It will take a while to decide on an artist but you've got to start somewhere :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi Everyone! I'm in the process of finding the right artist for a web comic I am currently writing. The story is geared more toward children, and specifically younger girls. The story is based around a Faerie and her daily life. So you need to love Faeries... I mean seriously LOVE Faeries, lol :) You will also need to be able to draw animals, and really be expressive with them. The faerie in this story has a best friend who is a chipmunk. So they are together a lot.
I don't really have a specific style in mind for this, Although I would say I lean more toward american style characters. Though I'm not ruling anything out, so if your an anime artist and are interested in the story feel free to apply.
This is basically a fact finding mission at the moment... this will be a paying job for the person who comes on board but right now I need to do a lot of portfolio searching and find out what every ones rates are. A decision most likely will not be made for at least a month or so.
So please send me a note with your portfolio links and page rates. A note about these strips, they are not standard size pages, they are about half that size. Also, I do plan to self publish each volume of the story as they are completed.
Another note... I plan to do all of the coloring and finishing work for the comic myself. So I just need someone to do the penciling. For those of you who are interested I have set up a couple things in my scraps section as samples. [link] The first is a sample of how I hope to color the comic. It was a really quick coloring job so the final result will be a bit more polished, but you'll get the idea. The second is I've posted a three page snippet from the script. So you can get to know the characters a bit and see if this might be something you'd be interested in.
I apologize for such a long post, but I just wanted to explain everything as best I could. Thanks for looking and I look forward to seeing your portfolios!
A Glimmer of Hope...
Tue Jan 27, 2009, 3:31 PM
So I'm seriously considering reviving this project. This all started out as a webcomic idea to expand my current Tinker Bell fan site: [link] I'm in the process of redoing the entire site to go along with it I have begun writing a whole new Fairy story to be turned into a webcomic for the site. I will doing the writing myself so it might take a little while, but I already have more progress done with the script then I ever did with the Forever Fae project. So I'm going to get the first Volume written and then go from there.
Wish me luck!
I'm not keeping the same characters, in fact the whole premise for the story has changed. I'm liking it a lot more now! I believe the main character will have many of the same characteristics as Breena had from Forever Fae. However everything else is out the window and I'm starting from scratch.
So I will keep updating here with my progress!
Now I am much more confident in my inking and coloring skills, so whenever the project does get under way the end result will be much more polished. Man looking back at some the inks and colors here on this account I'm totally embarrassed, lol
Change of Plans
Journal Entry: Sat Apr 26, 2008, 9:56 AM
Lately I've been rethinking the goal and time frame for the comic so I figured I'd post about it here.
As some of you know for the past year I've been working as a comic flatter, basically I take a black and white comic page and lay down base colors on the page. It has been taking up more and more of my time lately, which is a good thing, it is good to pay the bills, lol But, the past few months I have felt the desire to learn more and more about the full process of coloring comics. I am thinking now that that is really what I would like to focus my time on. I certainly don't want to give up on Forever Fae, but I am rethinking the whole web comic thing. I will post more here when I have come up with a final decision, but for now I need to focus on my coloring. I've picked up a couple of coloring jobs so I have to squeeze those in between all of my flatting work. So there is basically no time to work on Forever Fae, though I have a few pages of art that Michelle did for me that I really do want to get inked and colored. So some day that will happen, I'm just not sure when. Thanks to everyone who has been interested in the Fae story and I will be sure to post here with any news. For now if your interested in keeping up with me I've started a new deviantart page to showcase my coloring stuff.
